Toad in the hole. Make a well in the center of the flour. Pour in the eggs, milk, and melted butter into the well and whisk into the flour until smooth. Crack an egg into each bread hole (be careful not to break the yolk).

  2. Whilst the sausages are cooking beat together the flour,(its back in the shops at last!) milk and eggs to make the batter. If the batter is too thick add a little more milk..
  3. Once you are sure the oil is going to be really hot then pour the batter over the sausages, get it back in the oven. Door shut, and dont open for another 20 mins..
  4. Once cooked carefully set it down to cool for at least 10 mins before you try and serve it so you dont get burnt by spitting fat..

Once removed from the oven, the toad in the hole will sink slightly due to the temperate change - I just recommend you check it is cooked and crispy on top throughout to know it is ready. This was pretty much as Toad in the Hole should be although I found the batter a little on the heavy side and not as light and fluffy as my mum's TitH. A classic British dish, try using your favourite sausages in this toad in the hole recipe, which go wonderfully with the light and crispy yorkshire pudding batter. Meanwhile, make up the batter mix. Turn the sausages at least once to coat them in the oil.
